HERE I AM!!!!

Ok I guess this is going to be pretty long. I have alot of catching up to do!!
First let me say "HI EVERYONE!". Hope everyone is doing well.

Let me start by telling you about my father-in-law.
Back in January he dropped a piece of equipment on his foot at work. He probably only needed a couple of stiches and a shot of antibiotics but his doctor just told him to put on Polysporin and a bandaid. So off he went. As time went by the foot (big toe) wasn't getting any better. He returned to his family doctor several times and was told it was fine, just healing from the inside out and just to keep up with the ointment and bandaids. Well six months later the pain was unbearable and the foot was looking worse than ever so he went to another doctor for a second opinion.  This doctor was quite concerned that there wasn't any circulation (dad also is diabetic). Doctor sent him to specialist in Victoria and we discovered he had Gangreen!! They ended up having to amputate a handwidth below the knee!!!  Then he went into a diabetic coma and his kidneys started to fail. Finally they got his sugar levels under control and the kidneys working again. We were starting to worry that his leg wasn't looking well. As it turns out the blood supply wasn't hooked up correctly and they had to go back in the other day and amputate above the knee! He is recovering remarkably well and is in wonderful spirits. We were worried a few times that we were going to lose him. He was moved to the rehabilitation ward yesterday and has been vigorously working with a physiotherapist. It has been a very stressfull and emotional few weeks. J has been spending alot of time down there (2hours away) and coming home for a few days at a time to put some hours in at work. I'm trying my hardest to keep my legs crossed until everyone is back home before I have this baby!!

Baby - well we are officially 35 weeks plus 5 days.
Our due date is August 14 but if you've read my moms journal then you will see I starting having contractions on July 9th.  Had a doctors appointment yesterday and he said it could be anytime. I still may go full term though. I guess it's all up to the little chicklet. I really hope to wait until J's parents are back in town as this is their first grandchild. I have a scheduled Ultra sound on August 4th. We'll see if we can wait that long. The doc has me coming in every few days for a check up. I've been losing weight lately. I've only gained 9.9 pounds. Sounds better than 10!  Doc isn't concerned though cause each check up shows that the baby is still growing. I must be losing weight in other places. I think we have everything ready for our new arrival. I bought some new-born diapers the other day and they are so hilariously small!!! Way too cute!  My bag is packed and ready to go too!! I've been doing alot of cleaning and sleeping. It's just a waiting game now.

W is doing great! He's been wishing the weather would be a little more summery but we've taken advantage of most of the dry days. He's been saving up for a video camera to make skateboarding movies. We offered to pitch in $100 but he told me yesterday that he would rather just save it himself then he would feel more rewarded!!! Can you believe it! Unfortunately he snapped his skateboard yesterday and now is worried cause he has to dip into his fund to buy a new one. Perhaps J and I will suprise him with a new deck instead! He's been helping get things ready for baby and getting excited too!

For any of you that read moms last post about my cats....

Yesterday when I was working out in the yard I noticed Billy was playing with something... throwing it around and pouncing and attacking again... I called her over and she comes barrelling towards me and drops at my feet...... A STICK!
Yup, she still thinks she's a dog!

Happy day to all and til we meet again

Hey cousin...wow, i am glad to hear that your poor f-i-l is doing better. That must be horrible for him and for you guys. Thoughts are with you and sending lots of hugs. Looking forward to hearing about the arrival of the new baby!!! Hope you guys are enjoying the summer and hope to see you sometime...we are planning a trip to the island either in August or early September. B will be working almost every day in August but then will get a ton of days off so that is our plan for his time off.
Take care and lots of love and to you and J and W and new baby.

Oh YIKES! Your poor Dad in law! That first Dr is NUTS! Gangrene is such a big risk when there's any kind of infection in a diabetic!! Jeez, the poor man, to have to go through all that! I sure hope all is on the mend now!

And yes, I've read quite a bit about the little chicklet over at the proud grammas journal, as well as Bs. Sounds like everything is good! Oh, everytime I see those newborn diapers, I just have to saw "awwwwwww!", they are SO cute! Just so impossibly teeny!

Take care, I'll be on the watch for updates!!
