IT'S A GIRL!!!!!

Hi everyone. I know most of you already know but we are thrilled to announce the birth of baby Abby born Aug 10.

We are really excited to have her home and I'm going to try to make this quick while she is napping.

I'm going to try to attach a picture to my photo album and hope it works. I've only done it once before and hope I remember how.

So the big day went as well as it could. My water broke at 5am and the doctor had said to head to hospital when the contractions were 5 minutes apart. WELL, at about 5:30 they started but they were already 2 minutes apart!!! OUCH!  So off we all went. Gramma, W & J. Called cousin Y to meet us at the hospital so she could support W in case he decided that he didn't want to stay in the labour room.  To make a long story short, after 7 and a half hours of hard labour the doctors decided that they needed to go in and take her out. Upon an examination they discovered baby girl had had her first bowel movement. If this happens they deliver right away to prevent infection. Also baby is now ingesting this. So within 20 min the docs were singing happy birthday to our little angel.

We are both doing well and were able to make it home on Saturday. I'm healing up fine. I did get an infection at the site of incision but after being on atibiotics for a couple of days I'm feeling much better.

W is the proudest big brother I've ever seen. He absolutely adores his little sister. J is doing great too. He even volunteers to change the messy diapers and is happy to be teaching W how to do the same!

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by with their congratulations.

Till we meet again.

NOT YET!

Hi everyone. Well we are one week away from our official due date. I had a chat with the little gaffer this evening and told him/her that we are all ready and waiting! Still feeling good. Some days I have lots of energy and others I just can't seem to get motivated to do much of anything. I've never napped so much in my entire life. I've never been much of a napper but lately I can't seem to get enough sleep. I went for an ultra sound on Thursday. The doc just wanted to check on the growth of the baby because I've still been losing weight. I've only gained 8 pounds altogether. No problems though. the baby is just the size it should be! I guess I've just been losing in other places. Beleive me it feels and looks a heck of a lot more than 8 lbs protruding from the front. My belly button has turned inside out!

Well this is just a short post for now cause .... well..... I'm tired.

Hope to announce our new arrival next time.

BELLY BUTTONS POPPED! IT MUST BE READY!!

Well I see I'm not the only one who slacks off in journaland! I guess everyone is too busy with summer activities. Now I don't feel so bad.

Well the baby is officially done and the doc says it can be any day now. J and W say I have to wait until anytime after Friday cause they are going to the Motley Crue concert in Vancouver. We have had the tickets for 4 months and they are really excited. Fortunately we have a ferry (Harbourlynx) that runs for some special events. They leave here at 3:30 on the boat, a bus charters them to the concert and back to the boat again so they will return the very same night! It's a great service. Otherwise they would have to take a vehicle and travel back the next day.

So, I'm feeling pretty good. The weather has been beautiful with a breeze too so it makes the heat tolerable. I'm grounded this week from the lakes and rivers as we don't want to risk anyone missing the concert!!!  I don't mind hanging around the house. With all the windows open and the fan going it's actually quite nice. I've also been pretty tired and nap at least once a day. Of course I'm not sleeping well at night though. The doc says it doesn't matter when I sleep so long as I'm getting enough rest.

W is having a fabulous summer full of days at the beach, river, lake, mini golfing, skateboarding, bikeriding, hanging with cousins and friends.  He has been a huge help to me during the last few weeks. He is going to be a wonderful big brother.

J's dad just moved to our local hospital this week. We are sooooo excited. He has been in Victoria for six weeks. He is healing up wonderfully and he is even allowed to go home for this next weekend. Just for a couple days at a time. He is still undergoing intense pysiotherapy and is also still waiting to be fitted for a prosthetic leg. He sure is happy to be back at this end of the island. Actually he works at our hospital so all the guys have been stopping by daily to chat. It has been wonderful for his recovery. J stopped by to see him last night and said he hasn't looked better for a least 5 months! He asked J to come back tonight and sneak him a fudgesicle after mom leaves!

Well I guess that is all for now, I'll try to keep everyone up to date with the baby news. I'm sure mom will update everyone when our new little one arrives.

Till we meet again....

HERE I AM!!!!

Ok I guess this is going to be pretty long. I have alot of catching up to do!!
First let me say "HI EVERYONE!". Hope everyone is doing well.

Let me start by telling you about my father-in-law.
Back in January he dropped a piece of equipment on his foot at work. He probably only needed a couple of stiches and a shot of antibiotics but his doctor just told him to put on Polysporin and a bandaid. So off he went. As time went by the foot (big toe) wasn't getting any better. He returned to his family doctor several times and was told it was fine, just healing from the inside out and just to keep up with the ointment and bandaids. Well six months later the pain was unbearable and the foot was looking worse than ever so he went to another doctor for a second opinion.  This doctor was quite concerned that there wasn't any circulation (dad also is diabetic). Doctor sent him to specialist in Victoria and we discovered he had Gangreen!! They ended up having to amputate a handwidth below the knee!!!  Then he went into a diabetic coma and his kidneys started to fail. Finally they got his sugar levels under control and the kidneys working again. We were starting to worry that his leg wasn't looking well. As it turns out the blood supply wasn't hooked up correctly and they had to go back in the other day and amputate above the knee! He is recovering remarkably well and is in wonderful spirits. We were worried a few times that we were going to lose him. He was moved to the rehabilitation ward yesterday and has been vigorously working with a physiotherapist. It has been a very stressfull and emotional few weeks. J has been spending alot of time down there (2hours away) and coming home for a few days at a time to put some hours in at work. I'm trying my hardest to keep my legs crossed until everyone is back home before I have this baby!!

Baby - well we are officially 35 weeks plus 5 days.
Our due date is August 14 but if you've read my moms journal then you will see I starting having contractions on July 9th.  Had a doctors appointment yesterday and he said it could be anytime. I still may go full term though. I guess it's all up to the little chicklet. I really hope to wait until J's parents are back in town as this is their first grandchild. I have a scheduled Ultra sound on August 4th. We'll see if we can wait that long. The doc has me coming in every few days for a check up. I've been losing weight lately. I've only gained 9.9 pounds. Sounds better than 10!  Doc isn't concerned though cause each check up shows that the baby is still growing. I must be losing weight in other places. I think we have everything ready for our new arrival. I bought some new-born diapers the other day and they are so hilariously small!!! Way too cute!  My bag is packed and ready to go too!! I've been doing alot of cleaning and sleeping. It's just a waiting game now.

W is doing great! He's been wishing the weather would be a little more summery but we've taken advantage of most of the dry days. He's been saving up for a video camera to make skateboarding movies. We offered to pitch in $100 but he told me yesterday that he would rather just save it himself then he would feel more rewarded!!! Can you believe it! Unfortunately he snapped his skateboard yesterday and now is worried cause he has to dip into his fund to buy a new one. Perhaps J and I will suprise him with a new deck instead! He's been helping get things ready for baby and getting excited too!

For any of you that read moms last post about my cats....

Yesterday when I was working out in the yard I noticed Billy was playing with something... throwing it around and pouncing and attacking again... I called her over and she comes barrelling towards me and drops at my feet...... A STICK!
Yup, she still thinks she's a dog!

Happy day to all and til we meet again

HERE I AM! HERE I AM!

Well I figured I should stop by with some updates. Journal land just may close down my site if I'm not using it enough!

So we are 29 weeks today! Wow! It just seems like yesterday that I was excited cause we were halfway along!

I'm feeling great still. My feet are usually  puffy like sausages by the end of the day and I'm still sick every morning and I'm hot all the time and I'm getting irritable and I can't sleep and and and.....

Doesn't that sound GREAT!!! ???

Just kidding, it sounds way worse than it really is. Although all true it's not that bad. I only have a few weeks of work left and then we get to play the waiting game. I've chosen to finish work early so I can spend some quality time with W and let him enjoy being an only child just awhile longer. J and W and a friend spent their first day at the river yesterday. It was 30 degrees out but the river is still freezing!! J said there were quite a few people there but only our son was the only one who spent most of the day in the water. He said most people would jump in and get out right away cause it's so cold! But not our boy... he should have been born a fish!! Of course he's bugging me to take him again today but I want to get some housework done before the boys get back with the truck and my moms belongings. It's going to be great having her live so close! W is really excited! He worries about her all the time that she doesn't rest enough. (what a good grandson!) AWWWW...

Well I guess I should get busy doing something. I've got a few days off but would like to get my chores done today so I'm free for the next two!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Till we meet again.

I HAD DOUGHNUTS FOR BREAKFAST!!!!

Ok, so I'm really, really hungry. (all the time lately)
I had a check-up last week and doctor said I had lost a pound since my last visit. He said not to worry because the baby has still grown. Said I must be losing weight in other places. So do a feel guilty eating a doughnut for breakfast?? NO WAY!!! Don't worry I'll eat something healthy for the baby too!!
So I guess I've officially popped. That's what it looks like. I'm all belly now. Fortunately I still have a belly button, as shallow as it is! I'm sure by next week it will have completely dissapeared!

(Posting is hard today, the screen keeps jumping around???)

The little chicklet has been keeping me awake at night now. I swear there is boxing class going on in my tummy. Jim says it's probably because I'm snoring so much the poor little gaffer can't sleep either!!!

Ok, this screen jumping is driving me nuts so I think I'll try to add to this post later......

Hello, Hello, Hello

Wow, what a busy couple of weeks!
I feel completely refreshed and ready for the next 9 weeks until maternity leave!

The first couple days of holidays was spent just flaking with the cat and spending time with my aunt and cousin! I never did get to enjoy a day of chick flicks though! I always say I'm going to do that but when the time comes I always find something else to do.

On the 20th "W" and I head over to the mainland to visit some family. Actually it turned out to be a "skateboard" themed week!
We hit this really great indoor skatepark in Richmond (11,000) sq feet. There was hardly anyone there so "W" pretty much had the place to himself! He also managed to spend $100 in the shop on 2 T-shirts and a hoodie.(actually a good deal if you are familiar with skate clothes).
On the Friday we picked my cousin up after school and headed downtown to this area where there are a bunch of board shops. "W" was in his glory! Although they were all little independant shops so the prices were crazy! "W" did buy himself a t-shirt and cousin found the runners she has always wanted!
We spent alot of time at an outdoor skatepark in grandmas neighbourhood that "W" just loved!
I actually had alot of fun and took alot of really great pictures. I was playing around with black and white and some of them turned out great.
Believe it or not we really did get a chance to spend some quality time with the family. It was great to see all of them. We didn't manage to see everyone on this visit but it was great to spend time with as many as we could.
On the Saturday we were off to Victoria for the Cher concert! As you have read in Moms journal it was fabulous. We had a really great time.

Well I should go get "W" up for school and shower myself for work today. I still have alot more to say but I'm running out of time.
Maybe I can post some more later when I'm "Hurrying up to wait for a client!!!"
Hope you all have a great week.

Oh!!!
We are into our 25th week! All is going great and the baby is really starting to get active now!
Everyone says I popped over my holidays. I guess that's a nice way of saying "holy Sh__! you're getting huge!"
I'm feeling really good. Still sick with the dry heaves every morning but I guess it's a small price to pay for what is to come! awwww!
Till we meet again...

PREGNANCY BRAIN...(OR NO BRAIN)

Ok, so "W" and I decided that we wanted chicken fahitias (?) for dinner last night. We got all the ingredients.... chicken, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, avacados. When we got home I realized that we forgot sour cream. Jim always calls on his way home to see if we need anything so I figured he could pick some up. As usual he calls and the local store doesn't have any so he runs up to the big store and buys some sour cream along with 3 bags of other groceries (don't shop when you're hungry). So I have the table all set, everythings all diced up and we are ready to eat when I realize that we have nothing to put all our goodies in!!!! I completely forgot the tortillas!!.
Of course I was the only one who seemed to think this was completely hilarious .
I laughed all the way to the store and back!

OOHHHHH, I forgot to mention that " I WON TICKETS TO CHER!!!!!".

It was a contest thru work so mom and I are going to the concert on Saturday night !!!

"W" and I are heading to the mainland this afternoon  to do some shopping (oops. I mean visit relatives!)
We will stay till Saturday then head over to Victoria where we will meet Jim and Mom and I will head to Cher!
We have quite a full week ahead of us!
Well I must write down my mental list of things to do and review it over and over or I'll forget something important I'm sure .

Hope everyone has a great week and I'll fill you all in on our adventures upon our return.

Till we meet again ! (oops. I mean !)

1 HOUR 11 MINUTES

I'm almost finished for the day or should I say for the next 18 days!!!

Yayyyy!

Tomorrow morning I'm heading to the video store to get some chick flicks and I'm going to flake all day!

Then the next I want to play with my nephew "B".

Then go shopping.

Then get "W" his haircut.

Then flake some more...

then....

then...

I'm so looking forward to some days off. But you know I'll probably get bored and miss work. As much as I complain I really love my job!

I'll post again in a couple of days when I have more to say!

My clients are showing up now. So take care everyone.

Until we meet again....

FEELING A LITTLE LOPSIDED

So the strangest thing happened this morning...

I went to get in the shower and I caught my reflection in the mirror and something just didn't look right. Upon further inspection it appears that the little gaffer has decided that it should stick to the right side today. It looks quite funny. I have this huge lump on the right side and the left is all squishy. It also feels a little awkward.

So  the countdown is on until tomorrow at 7:30PM. I've taken 2 1/2 weeks holidays. I've started my to do list. But of course you all know how much I just love to procrastinate!!!

W and I will be heading over to Vancouver sometime during my days off and we plan to go to Playland with some cousins. Should be alot of fun! W doesn't do rides but I'm sure he'll manage to break me with all the games and goodies!!

Well as you all know if I'm posting it must mean I'm at work so I guess I should probably get some done. People are starting to give me strange looks with my feet up on the desk and all!!!!

Enjoy the day!
